Then you should join a local rock club.  Rock
clubs offer a meeting place for people to get
together to pursue their interests in geology,
mineral collection, lapidary, and jewelry making.
Field trips in the summer are a fun family outing
and great exercise.  Meetings usually have a fun
agenda where you can swap rocks (or stories
about rocks), watch interesting demonstrations,
slide shows and lectures.  Door prizes and silent
auctions are always greeted with enthusiasm.
WHERE CAN I JOIN A ROCK CLUB?
There are several rock clubs in Maine.  Here in Bangor, Maine the local rock club is Penobscot
Mineral and Lapidary Club (PMLC).  We meet on the second Saturday of each month.   We meet
at 7:00 PM during the summer and at 2:00 PM in the winter.
